Breguet was founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet in Paris. This makes Breguet one of the oldest watch brands which has survived through time.
As the business was a success his son joined in the early 1800’s changing the name to Breguet et Fils which translates to ‘and sons’. Through the years the company was handed over within the family until the great grandson of Abraham-Louis. Before Louis Antoine passed away the company hired watchmaker Edward Brown who became partner and later owner. For roughly 100 years the company was in the hands of the Brown family and changed owners multiple times during the quartz era.
