Very informative and thought provoking. It really makes me think that a company/HR/IT should have at least a couple different scenarios for exit strategies and protecting company data. Because, yep, there are employees who are leaving on amiable terms that you don’t want to treat harshly for no good reason, but then there are also employees who are leaving who are an obvious risk for screwing the company over. Or at least trying to. Not to mention an endless number of situations that fall into a middle ground. This is one of the things I’ve been thinking about as part of expanding my business/payroll.

A lot of it was or is known but what really opened my eyes is BYOD. Personally as an IT person, I have mixed feelings about it. I so far, never worked in a company, that had this policy but now thinking about it, that a company tries to protect its data with all kinds of measurements and security protecting the business from theft and from data leaving the company. There are many good tools, to help a company but it is a big challenge, to keep the workflow smooth and to prevent that a user spends half the day identifying him-/ herself.

But I would like to ask a question, someone might can answer from HR? Regarding your personal data an employees data related to GDPR, what is happening with my personal data as soon as I leave a company? What kind of data is still important for the company, like social related topics and what is no longer of use? How long is a company storing my data and for what purpose? Anyone having an idea about this field and where can I find some information? I do not have a personal problem with my data being stored, just was wondering and am curious.

Thanx,
Mike

Your comment is an interesting one, but not something we were focusing on here.

We allow for personal use, so personal data is gathered and given to the employee post termination. Are we allowed like emails to auto respond to sms stating they are no longer employees? If the user requests their new personal contact info to be given out via sms or verbally can we use it? There is no information on cell phones besides BYOD and it is very frustrating to say the least.

Comment on What Microsoft Won’t Tell You about Office 365 Subscription Plans by Jay https://www.druva.com/blog/what-microsoft-wont-tell-you-about-office-365-subscription-plans-2/#comment-63 Fri, 01 Dec 2017 14:38:53 +0000 https://www.druva.com/?p=17448#comment-63 Agreeing with David on this one. Once email leaves Microsoft’s domain it has to be encrypted. Unless there is a third-party application that provides encryption end-to-end like S/MIME it is most likely sent in the clear. BTW, I love the word ecosystem, but I used domain in the event someone out there doesn’t get that.
